Late Showa period, 1970s–1980s
Vintage Japanese Teacup "Flowers", 60 ml
Hand-painted. On one side, it features classic blue-and-white cobalt stripes (sometsuke), while the other showcases vibrant green enamel with delicate white cherry or plum blossoms. This contrasting technique is characteristic of the Japanese Rinpa artistic school.
Porcelain clay with fine dark specks (iron particles) was used here. This is done intentionally to give the piece a rustic, natural feel in the spirit of wabi-sabi aesthetics.
The exact years are unknown, but the cup most likely dates to the late Showa period (1970s–1980s).
Thanks to its tall, narrow shape, it retains heat well and concentrates the aroma of the tea. Medium-thick walls.
