Old Tea Heads from the Yuncha Technology factory
Lao Cha Tou, 2016
Weight
Fermented in 2016 from old arbor leaves harvested in the Banzhang garden near Bulang Mountain.
I like these tea heads primarily for their smoothness and mellow character. Even when brewed pitch-black, they remain soft and balanced, without any bitterness. At first glance, they might seem simple, but give them a little attention and they will reveal their depth. Across gongfu infusions, these tea heads open up with notes of nuts, tree roots, and plum pit, complemented by hints of camphor and sweet Cahors wine. The dynamic finish begins with a delicate huigan and flows into an oily shengjin that coats the entire palate.
The size varies from tiny nuggets to hefty chunks :)
They brew wonderfully in a thermos and shine even more when boiled.
