Sheng Puer "Chun Jing", 2023
Weight
The leaves for this tea were harvested from trees on Bada Mountain, a region renowned for its abundance of old and wild tea trees. Over three years of aging, the tea has already lost its youthful green freshness. This is evident even in the color of the leaves: they resemble yellowed autumn foliage more than vibrant spring greenery. When brewed properly, the tea has no bitterness and is virtually free of astringency. Instead, its character becomes deeper, rounder, and more pronounced.
The aroma is reminiscent of dried fruit compote—dried apricots and prunes—with delicate notes of ripe pear.
The taste is smooth, clean, and sweet, with honeyed undertones. Much like the aroma, it evokes dried fruit compote, complemented by a gentle fruity acidity and a lingering sweet finish. The infusion is light and easy-drinking, yet possesses an inner strength and depth that are already beginning to reveal themselves thanks to aging.
This is an excellent example of a young Sheng puer that has moved beyond its "green" stage while still retaining freshness and great potential for further aging.
