From Old Li's private collection
Shu Puer "Rice Congee", 2009
Weight
Harvested from old arbor trees on Jingmai Mountain and fermented in 2009.
The aroma features notes of sweet rice congee and cane sugar. In the warmed leaf, the rice congee aroma is enriched with notes of raisins and strawberries.
The taste is dense and woody with sweet rice notes, very oily, with a powerful hui gan (a rich interplay of bitterness turning into sweetness) and a lingering aftertaste. Honestly, on certain steeps, I groaned with pleasure.
