Old rock clay
Tripod Gongdaobei "Aladdin", 125 ml
This Chahai is made of Lao Yan Ni (old rock clay) and coated with an amber-colored Jiangyou ("soy sauce") glaze. Its tripod shape harks back to archaic Chinese archetypes originating in the bronze culture of the Shang and Zhou dynasties (~12th–3rd centuries BCE).
While the glaze makes this Gongdaobei versatile, its thick clay walls retain heat for a long time, making it particularly well-suited for dark, fermented teas.
