Big Golden Needles
Jin Yu Da Jin Zhen, 2025
Weight
Da Jin Zhen ("Big Golden Needles") is the king of red teas. It is crafted exclusively from large, unopened buds densely covered with golden down.
Jin Yu Da Jin Zhen clearly dominates the flavor profile over all other varieties of Big Golden Needles. This is precisely the kind of tea that truly earns the "premium" label.
The dry buds are a true aromatic bomb. At first, you catch berry pie with its sweet crust and cherries. Dive deeper, and you are greeted by aromas of bread and baked potato, which swiftly shift into chocolate cookies and dried apple.
The warmed aroma reveals completely new facets: spicy, smoky-tobacco notes emerge, paired with sweet yet slightly bitter cocoa-chocolate, before circling back to the pie.
The taste brings sweet honey, bread, and dried fruit compote with a pronounced note of prune. But it doesn't stop there. Like a rhyme, it continues to evolve with an aftertaste of walnut and a pleasant berry tartness on the palate. My absolute favorite.
It brings a special state of mind, wrapping you like a warm blanket in deep coziness and lifting your spirits.
