Smoked green tea
Weishan Maojian
Weight
According to the "Chronicle of Famous Chinese Teas":
"Yichi tea from Ningxiang, produced in Weishan village, has a long history, and Weishan Maojian is considered the finest of them all."
Weishan smoked tea is harvested around Miyin Temple in the Weishan Mountains—part of the Xuefeng mountain range—at an altitude of around 1,100 meters. Weishan is enveloped in mist and fog all year round; its natural terroir is unique, and its production history is steeped in antiquity. The tea is crafted using traditional imperial tribute tea techniques combined with modern methods.
It opens with an intense aroma of smoke and pine charcoal, evoking the feeling of sitting around a campfire with friends deep in the woods or mountains while the smoke wafts directly toward you. Once awakened, this scent becomes even richer, yet the innate fragrance of green tea begins to emerge alongside a subtle umami note. Throughout the brewing session, the tea's aroma transitions through smoky nuances, fresh marine undertones, and nutmeg.
In contrast, the taste is remarkably light, sweet, and tender, offering a floral-herbaceous body, a faint berry-and-tobacco acidity, and a refined pine-charcoal aftertaste.
A truly captivating tea that is definitely worth experiencing at least once.
