Pit firing by oshe.lesh
Tea Pet “Bovvan”
Bovvan is a traditional word for an idol or a statue of a deity. Figuratively and colloquially, it refers to a motionless person, and is also used as an insult for a foolish or narrow-minded individual. And so, this silent head will gaze at you mysteriously, just like a bovvan. What does the bovvan think about? And what do you think about when you gaze into its eyes? And remember: if you gaze long into the bovvan's eyes, the bovvan also gazes into you.
It underwent a double firing — first in a kiln, followed by pit firing among hay, sawdust, firewood, and other materials, which gave it its one-of-a-kind coloration.
