Jingdezhen Ceramics, "Qin Feng" Studio
"Fogu" Gaiwan, 100 ml
Crafted at the Qin Feng studio (秦风 "Wind of Qin" — referencing the culture of the ancient Qin state and meaning "Qin style"). Based in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of the world, this studio specializes in high-quality wood-fired teaware.
This gaiwan is crafted from "medium-white" clay without the use of artificial glaze. The surface is glazed naturally through the deposition of wood ash during firing. Truly exquisite craftsmanship.
The shape is called "Xiao Yuanbao" (named after an ancient Chinese gold or silver ingot of a distinctive form); in ceramics, this name often describes a rounded, compact shape reminiscent of such an ingot.
Wood firing makes each piece truly one of a kind.
