Master Peng Yu's teaware is imbued with the "beauty of imperfection"—the result of the master's years of immersion in wabi-sabi philosophy. Each piece captures the dialogue between Earth and Fire, embodying the Eastern spirit of Zen: natural simplicity and primal ancient grace. This aesthetic pursuit is realized through nearly twenty meticulous production stages.
He uses local natural clay from primary deposits and relies exclusively on firewood as fuel. No artificial glazes are used. The luster of each piece comes solely from the "life" of the kiln: over three days and two nights of intense firing at ultra-high temperatures, natural wood ash settles onto the clay, melting into a living glaze that cools into unique marks and textures.
A true artifact and work of art born of clay and fire in the wabi-sabi style.
